About the role
The Assistant Market Analyst - Infrastructure (AMA-I) works under the supervision of the Senior Market Analyst - Infrastructure (SMA-I) and supports both the Senior Market Analyst and Market Analyst - Infrastructure. The role provides independent analysis of infrastructure sectors and other regulated industries, conducts market research, gathers information from regulated industries, and monitors the regulatory environment to inform policy recommendations to the FCCC. The incumbent also assists in developing regulatory frameworks, regulatory price review models, and policy recommendations, and may step in during the absence of the Senior Market Analyst. Administrative and reporting tasks for the infrastructure stream fall under this role, along with other duties assigned by the Senior Market Analyst and Manager Economic Regulations. The work involves large datasets, financial and economic models, and stakeholder input to support regulatory frameworks and the determination of regulated tariffs, charges, and ex-factory prices. The incumbent is expected to support compliance with FCCC's key performance indicators and the administration of work under the FCCC Act 2010 relating to infrastructure sectors and industries.
Key responsibilities
- Achieve targeted outputs as per the Department plan
- Gather information from regulated industries and analyze data relating to target market and industry trends
- Assist in performing data analysis for trend and market movements under SMA supervision
- Track and summarize policy and regulatory changes impacting department deliverables
- Provide analytical and administrative support to the SMA and team on cross-functional projects
- Assist in timely submission of Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual Reports
- Conduct market analysis for both regulated and non-regulated markets
- Assist in preparing regulatory frameworks, developing regulatory models, and evaluating rate applications
About the successful candidate
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Pharmacy, Engineering, or Statistics
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years relevant experience in a similar role
- Excellent information and data analytical skills
- Good listening, interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
- Keen interest in research and analysis
- Good in Microsoft Excel and Data Management tools
- Good quantitative skills and knowledge of statistical methods
- Ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team, and prioritize multiple competing objectives under tight deadlines
