About the role
The Policy & Governance Officer sits within the Corporate Governance and Risk Business Unit at FNPF's Head Quarters in Suva and reports directly to the Manager Governance & Risk. The role develops and revises Policy frameworks, Standard Operating Procedures, Service Level Agreements and guidelines in consultation with the Fund's Business Units, drawing on an in-depth understanding of systems, workflows and applicable International Standards and best practices. The incumbent provides advisory opinions to Management, Internal Stakeholders and the Board Secretariat on policy interpretation, and ensures the Fund's policies embed Reserve Bank of Fiji Policy Statement requirements. Technical expertise is also provided to the Compliance Team for conformance assessments against relevant legislation, standards and best practices. This is a senior individual-contributor role with no direct or indirect reports, but it carries responsibility for implementing the Fund's overarching Corporate Governance Policy.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake effectiveness reviews of the Fund's governance in line with standard best practices and standards.
- Write, operationalize, review and improve the Fund's Governance Policy.
- Write Governance Workshop Workbooks to facilitate sessions and enhance risk culture in the Fund.
- Write and vet new policies and provide value-adding advice to Business Units.
- Develop and revise Frameworks, Policies, Procedures, Guidelines and Service Level Agreements for all Business Units.
- Maintain an up-to-date Policy and Procedures register and repository accessible to all staff.
- Prepare and write Board Papers for information and decision, and vet executive management and board policy papers.
- Provide technical expertise to the Compliance Team to conduct compliance conformance assessments on relevant legislation, standards and best practices.
About the successful candidate
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting & Finance, Management & Public Administration, Economics or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years' experience in a Policy & Governance role, preferably within financial institutions.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrates integrity by modelling the Fund's vision, values and ethical standards.
- Computer literate with analytical, problem-solving and investigative skills.
- Sound knowledge of the Fund's processes, systems, policies and procedures.
- Innovative and creative, able to generate ideas that can be implemented to resolve issues.
- Ability to work under pressure to a high standard, with flexibility and multi-skilling.
