Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF) is the employer for this role, operating out of its Head Quarters in Suva. The Fund maintains its own HR Policy and has branches and agencies across Fiji that this role may be required to support.

About the role

The Senior HR Specialist reports to the Manager Human Resources Operations (MHRO) and supports that manager in overseeing the daily operations of the HR department. The role manages specific HR functions, helps develop and implement HR policies, and works to ensure compliance with legal standards. The Senior HR Specialist also acts as the HR Operations Business Partner for assigned divisions and has one direct report, an HR Specialist. The incumbent may be required to work late hours or weekends and to travel to other FNPF branches and agencies as part of HR system reviews and activities.

Key responsibilities

  • Conduct the end-to-end recruitment process in accordance with the Fund's HR Policy.
  • Develop and refine recruitment strategies, improve process efficiency, and ensure a positive candidate experience.
  • Manage employee relations (ER) and industrial relations (IR), including handling staff grievances and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversee staff exit processes, including exit interviews and offboarding.
  • Develop and implement employee relations policies, support performance management, and promote engagement through feedback channels, surveys, and training programs.
  • Manage leave administration and contract management, including reviewing leave applications and coordinating with payroll.
  • Ensure maximum use of HR Information Systems (HRIS) for HR operations.
  • Provide payroll support, act as backup, and administer staff benefits.

About the successful candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in HR, with at least 1-2 years in a senior role.
  • Experience in employee relations and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in recruitment and talent acquisition.
  • Strong knowledge of HR systems and databases.
  • In-depth knowledge of labour law and HR best practices.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
