About the role
The Planning Assistant supports the Asset Management Unit in processing subdivision, development, and road reserve applications, and handles amendments to planning schemes. The role is based in the Central & North region and involves managing the unit's inward and outward correspondence. It requires familiarity with key planning and land legislation alongside strong administrative and reporting skills.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in processing and assessing subdivision applications
- Assist in processing development applications
- Assist with requests for use of road reserve
- Assist with amendments to scheme
- Manage inward and outward correspondence of the Asset Management Unit
About the successful candidate
- Diploma in Land Use Planning, Civil Engineering, Transport Planning or equivalent in a related field
- 3 years of experience in processing subdivision and rezoning applications, including assessment of engineering plans
- Proficient in MS Office
- Knowledge of key legislation such as the FRA Act, Town and Country Planning, Sub Division of Lands, Local Government Act, Land Transfer Act, Public Health Act and Surveyors Act
- Effective and efficient filing management
- Report writing skills
- Good command of written and oral English communication
- Valid Group 2 Driver's Licence (Manual)
