About the role

The Subdivision Asset Manager (SAM) ensures that any negative impact from development and subdivision activity is adequately mitigated within the policies of the Government of Fiji, the FRA, and its funding partners. The role manages and leads the divisional Asset Management team in processing and assessing subdivision applications, development applications, requests for use of road reserve, and amendments to scheme. The SAM collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure FRA objectives and key performance requirements are met. The role also assists the Asset Manager with projects as required and undertakes planning duties.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure negative impacts from development and subdivision are mitigated within government, FRA, and funding partner policies
  • Manage and lead the divisional Asset Management team
  • Process and assess subdivision applications, development applications, and requests for use of road reserve
  • Assess amendments to scheme
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to meet FRA objectives and key performance requirements
  • Assist the Asset Manager with projects as and when required
  • Undertake planning duties

About the successful candidate

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, transport planning, Land Use Planning, or equivalent in a related field only
  • Seven years of experience processing subdivision and rezoning applications, assessing engineering plans, assessing traffic impact studies, assessing development applications, policy development, and FRA Standards for pavement, traffic and road design
  • Leadership experience with three years in a supervisory position
  • Experience undertaking development of policy
  • Knowledge of key legislations such as the FRA Act, Town and Country Planning, Sub Division of Lands, Local Govt Act, Land Transfer Act, Public Health Act, and Surveyors Act
  • Ability to review Scheme and sub divisional engineering plans
  • Proficient in MS-Office
  • Member of a recognised professional institute, and hold a valid Group 2 Driving licence (manual preferred)
