About the company

Telecom Fiji is a leading telecommunications provider delivering high-speed connectivity, cloud communications, and digital solutions across Fiji. The company is undergoing a major digital transformation, expanding its fiber and 5G network and enhancing customer digital experiences.

About the role

The Chief Information & Security Officer (CISO) will oversee all aspects of information technology, including internal systems, OSS/BSS, and data platforms, alongside cybersecurity governance, risk, compliance, and threat management. This role ensures digital transformation accelerates safely, balancing innovation with resilience against evolving cyber threats targeting telecom infrastructure. The CISO will lead the enterprise IT roadmap, manage vendor relationships with software vendors, system integrators, and cloud providers, and mentor IT architects, developers, DBAs, and support staff. The role also carries responsibility for a 24/7 Security Operations Center, network security across SS7, Diameter, and 5G core systems, and compliance with data privacy laws and telecom licensing conditions.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead enterprise IT roadmap, including BSS (billing, CRM, order management) and OSS (network provisioning, assurance, inventory) and ICT Infrastructure.
  • Lead digital transformation initiatives in AI-driven customer support, self-service portals, and data monetization; drive automation of manual processes across sales, fulfillment, and assurance.
  • Build a secure data warehouse for customer analytics, churn prediction, targeted marketing and other business initiatives.
  • Negotiate and manage relationships with software vendors, system integrators, and cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google).
  • Mentor IT architects, developers, DBAs, and support staff.
  • Develop and enforce a telecom-specific security framework aligned with NIST CSF, ISO 27001, and local regulations.
  • Lead a 24/7 Security Operations Center (SOC), threat hunting, intrusion detection, and incident response for network and IT systems.
  • Protect SS7, Diameter, 5G core, and signaling planes from fraud and interception attacks; ensure compliance with data privacy laws, telecom licensing conditions, and breach notification rules.

About the successful candidate

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field; a Master's in Information Security, or CISSP/CISM/CRISC certification, is strongly preferred.
  • 12+ years in IT and/or security leadership, with at least 6 years in the telecommunications industry.
  • Deep experience with BSS/OSS systems, with Oracle Converged OSS/BSS experience a distinct advantage.
  • Proven track record securing telecom networks (SS7, 5G, signaling, DPI).
  • Experience leading incident response and managing major breaches or fraud events.
  • Knowledge of cloud security, zero-trust architecture, and API security.
  • Exceptional communicator to board, regulators, and technical teams, with strong crisis management skills under pressure.
