About the role
This role leads the Engineering Planning team and acts as the subject matter expert for Aircraft Maintenance Planning, reporting to the EM Engineering - Continued Airworthiness. It is responsible for developing and delivering efficient maintenance programmes, ensuring regulatory compliance, optimising aircraft availability, and supporting the maintenance needs of the Fiji Airways and Fiji Link fleets. The manager develops long-term fleet maintenance plans, establishes cost-effective maintenance and utilisation programmes, and coordinates with Flight Operations, Commercial Planning, and Engineering stakeholders. The role also plans and delivers strategic maintenance projects such as mandatory inspections, modifications, airworthiness directives, and reliability programmes, while leading and developing Engineering Planning staff and driving continuous improvement through the Engineering ERP system.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and manage long-term maintenance plans for the Fiji Airways and Fiji Link fleets, ensuring compliance with manufacturer requirements, company procedures, regulatory directives, and airworthiness standards.
- Establish cost-effective aircraft maintenance and fleet utilisation programmes, working closely with Engineering and operational stakeholders to optimise fleet availability and reliability.
- Lead the tendering, evaluation, selection, and contract management of heavy maintenance providers, ensuring value for money and successful delivery of maintenance programmes.
- Manage safety, airworthiness, and regulatory compliance requirements, including risk assessment, mitigation, and adherence to the Corporate Integrated Safety Management System.
- Coordinate with Flight Operations, Commercial Planning, Engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure maintenance activities align with operational requirements and fleet commitments.
- Plan and deliver strategic maintenance projects, including mandatory inspections, modifications, airworthiness directives, reliability programmes, and other scheduled and non-routine maintenance activities.
- Oversee maintenance planning processes, documentation, scheduling, and forecasting to ensure maintenance activities are completed within required compliance periods.
- Manage maintenance resource planning, including manpower forecasting, budget preparation, cost control, spares requirements, and production capacity assessments.
About the successful candidate
- Degree in Engineering or Approved Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer qualification.
- Preferably at least seven (7) years in the Aviation Industry or Aircraft Engineering experience would be an advantage.
- Sound knowledge of Microsoft applications and Aircraft Maintenance systems and processes.
- Thorough knowledge of the Engineering & Maintenance MMOE, TOPS, Line Maintenance & ETOPS Manuals, Safety Procedures & OHS requirements and CAAF regulations and requirements.
- Demonstrable experience in managing projects of intermediate complexity.
- Demonstrable commercial awareness and business skills.
