Fiji Airways is Fiji's national airline, based in Nadi. It operates passenger flights across its network and maintains a Group finance function covering financial reporting, control and compliance.
About the role
This role leads the Group's core financial control, reporting and technical accounting activities, with accountability for a strong financial control environment across financial reporting, IFRS compliance, audit coordination, balance sheet governance and tax oversight. It also owns the effective management of aircraft financing and fleet-related accounting transactions. The Manager provides leadership and technical guidance to the Financial Control team and acts as the primary escalation point for financial reporting, accounting, audit, tax and control matters. The role supports finance transformation initiatives aimed at improving reporting, controls, data quality and process efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes.
- Ensure integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet.
- Prepare and review consolidated financial statements, statutory disclosures and management reports.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex transactions and new accounting standards.
- Maintain compliance with IFRS and applicable statutory requirements, and coordinate implementation of new and amended accounting standards.
- Lead external audit coordination and statutory reporting, and oversee financial controls, policies, reconciliations and governance frameworks.
- Coordinate tax and financial compliance obligations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead accounting assessments for aircraft acquisitions, disposals, leases and financing arrangements, and strengthen the team's capability on fleet transactions.
About the successful candidate
- Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Fully qualified accountant or in training toward completion of CA, CPA or CFA.
- At least five years of experience with a recognised firm of accountants or a reputable local or international business.
- Strong technical skills and external audit experience.
- Skilled in MS Excel; experience with EPICOR would be advantageous.
- Able to challenge historical ways of working and show tenacity in pursuing excellence.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders, remaining challenging and resilient while maintaining independence and objectivity.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organisational, analytical and presentation skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
