About the role
This role sits within Project Management and is responsible for managing, evaluating, and assessing information needed to construct a project on time, within budget, and to the quality specified by contract documents for assigned areas. Key responsibilities
- Conduct site investigations
- Perform quantity/material takeoff
- Check estimates for extensions, accuracy, and errors
- Prepare estimate schedules for tendering reviews
- Handle budgeting and costing
- Contact sub-trades and suppliers for quotations
- Evaluate sub-trades quotations and recommend sub-trades
- Participate in tender closings and compile successful and unsuccessful tenders
About the successful candidate
- Post Secondary Construction Engineering Technology School graduate or BSc Degree in Quantity Survey required
- 5-10 years estimating experience on Commercial, Institutional, and/or Industrial buildings
- Knowledge of estimating and costing structural concrete and structural steel building systems
- Experience estimating projects ranging from 5 million to 50 million
- Ability to perform conceptual estimating based on written or verbal instructions
- Experience with onscreen take-off software
- Advanced knowledge of sub-contractor work scopes, estimating techniques, and costing
- Knowledge of MS Project and/or Primavera P6 Scheduling software
