About the role
The Communications Officer supports the design, delivery, and monitoring of communication and visibility activities for the Centre for Sustainable Futures (CSF). The role promotes CSF's initiatives, projects, and events through internal and external communication channels, assisting with media engagement, branding, knowledge dissemination, and stakeholder communications. It provides operational support to CSF leadership and works collaboratively with the USP Division of Marketing and Communications, staff, students, and external partners. The role requires strong writing and design skills and the ability to coordinate communication activities across multiple campuses, managing competing priorities and tight deadlines. The position is available for a term of three years and may be renewed by mutual agreement.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare newsletters, press releases, digital content, event briefs, and communication materials for CSF projects and initiatives
- Ensure CSF activities are consistently branded and aligned with USP and MFAT visibility guidelines
- Liaise with media outlets, service providers, and partners to promote CSF events and outputs
- Support the packaging and dissemination of research findings, project roads, and success stories
- Maintain CSF website and social media presence with timely, engaging, and accessible content updates
- Provide logistical and communication support for CSF workshops, conferences, and outreach events
- Manage competing priorities and tight deadlines while ensuring high-quality, accurate, culturally appropriate communications
About the successful candidate
- A Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, or Public Relations with two years subsequent relevant experience
- Or, in exceptional cases with prior endorsement and approval, a Diploma in PR or media and communications with four years of relevant experience in technical or administrative fields
- Or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
- Familiarity with Pacific regional contexts
- Must be a citizen of one of the USP member countries
- Experience in donor-funded projects, higher education institutions, or regional/multi-campus contexts

- FJ$47,921.75 to FJ$56,678.10 per annum
