About the role
This role sits within the Fitness Centre, part of the Department of Commercial Operations, which reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The Fitness Instructor will supervise the Fitness Centre training floor, ensuring activities are monitored within occupational health and safety guidelines and that facility procedures and policies are followed. Using an individualized approach, the instructor assesses, motivates, educates, and trains clients on their health and fitness needs, designing safe and effective exercise programs and responding appropriately in emergencies. The instructor refers clients to other healthcare professionals when a need falls outside their own area of expertise. The role directly supports high-quality customer service, customer retention, and increased gym membership across Fitness Centre venues. The position is offered for a three-year term, renewable by mutual agreement.
Key responsibilities
- Undertake pre-exercise screening and induct new members in the correct and safe use of equipment
- Provide exercise and fitness instruction, assessment and supervision duties at the USP Fitness Centre
- Support the development and delivery of fitness programs, including group fitness classes
- Ensure the safety of clients during training sessions and supervise the gym floor
- Monitor hygiene standards and cleaning lists, and ensure maintenance issues are reported and actioned
- Create fitness assessments and programs, and provide knowledgeable advice to clients
- Promote the facilities in a professional and positive manner
- Work within and adhere to USP policies and work towards KPIs as required
About the successful candidate
- Completion of a diploma level qualification with one (1) year of relevant work-related experience, or
- Certificate level qualification with three (3) years post-certificate relevant work experience, or
- Completion of a post-trade certificate or advanced certificate and five (5) years of relevant experience, and where required be a licensed professional, or
- An equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training
- Must be a citizen of one of the USP member countries
