Neptune Pacific Direct Line is a shipping and logistics business operating in Suva, Fiji. The company runs a local IT function supported by regional and enterprise IT teams as part of its wider operations.

About the role

This role leads the delivery of IT services and support for the business in Suva, overseeing the local IT team and ensuring systems, infrastructure and workplace technology remain reliable, secure and responsive. The Manager, IT Operations works closely with local stakeholders as well as regional and enterprise IT teams, managing day-to-day support, resolving operational issues and helping deliver technology projects and improvements. The role is also the main local escalation point when significant IT issues arise. Beyond operations, the manager contributes to IT budgeting, purchasing, forecasting and cost control, manages third-party technology vendors, and leads and develops the local IT support team through coaching, workload planning and performance management.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead local IT operations and oversee end-user support, device management, workplace technology, infrastructure, connectivity and access to business systems.
  • Ensure incidents and service requests are prioritised, resolved or escalated in line with agreed service levels.
  • Monitor system performance and availability, taking proactive steps to minimise disruption to business operations.
  • Maintain effective processes for incident, request, problem, change, asset and knowledge management.
  • Work with regional and enterprise IT teams to implement technology standards, security controls and initiatives in the local environment.
  • Manage third-party technology vendors, including service performance, issue resolution and renewals.
  • Support local technology projects, system upgrades, office changes and new business initiatives.
  • Manage local IT risks relating to security, resilience, compliance, capacity and business continuity.

About the successful candidate

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent progressive management experience.
  • At least 10 years' experience in IT, including strong experience in technical operations, and at least five years' management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of IT operations, service delivery, end-user support, infrastructure, networking and workplace technologies.
  • Practical experience with IT service management, including incident, request, problem, change and asset management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, set priorities and coordinate teams and vendors through to resolution.
  • Experience managing third-party service providers and holding them accountable for service performance.
  • Proven people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management and team development.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with commercial awareness of budgets and supplier management.
